Hi! I'm Hannah Overbye-Thompson

About Me

Hello! I am a Ph.D. student at the University of California Santa Barbara in the Department of Communication. My primary research interests lie in understanding the effects of algorithm bias, especially as it pertains to systemic inequalities among different groups. I also broadly work on projects related to race and politics in the mass media. Before coming to Santa Barbara I was a lab manager at Stanford's Psychophysiology Laboratory, and a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I studied Psychology and Communication.

When I am not working, I enjoy running, writing code, attempting to surf/paddle board and dreaming of the day that I can own a dog again. Feel free to reach out to me at hoverbye@ucsb.edu
